In most instances, Poinsettias will only flower for one season even though the plant is considered to be a perennial. However, if special care is taken with the Poinsettia Plant, there is a chance it will flower additional seasons. Extensive hybridization in recent years has resulted in much longer flowering period. The Poinsettia has gained so much notoriety in the United States it has its own recognized and celebrated day. December 12 th is officially recognized as National Poinsettia Day.
